Margao: On the occasion of Goa Revolution Day, Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Vijai Sardesai today said that State needs to follow ‘Goa Model’ of development without harming the ecology. “The revolution that is required now is one of development. Infrastructure development is required. But the development model that we should follow is ‘development by consent’,” Sardesai said while addressing the Revolution Day celebration at Lohia Maidan. “We need to follow Goa model of Development. A model that will have a balance between heritage and modernity-embracing modern thought and technology while preserving our cultural, ecological and architectural heritage,” he stated.

He said that the development is not just roads and bridges and the crores of rupees spent on them; but it is about infrastructural development without damaging the ecology.

“It is also about development of our human resources, development of the Goemkar youth to make our youngsters good human beings and effective citizens,” he commented.

Minister has urged his government to work towards being in a revolution, by making our youth educated, employable and able to stand firm on their own legs.

Pointing to the growing opposition to various developmental works, Sardesai urged people not to object just for the sake of objection. “I do not say that all opposition is justified. Some may be and are justified, but those who oppose should have open minds, should be ready for dialogues. Solution can and will be found,” he stated. Minister said that the current opposition to IIT and the Salcete educational hub, sends wrong signal.
