Quepem: Congress party has been exposed over its double standard on Carnival celebrations in the State at the backdrop of tension between India-Pakistan.
While Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar had demanded that State should cancel Carnival festivities due to tension at the border, All India Congress Committee Secretary A Chellakumar was seen leading the pack of leaders ushering in the festivities at Quepem on Tuesday.
Chellakumar along with Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, his wife and Congress leader Savitri Kavlekar, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President Pratima Coutinho, North District President Vijay Bhike were seen participating in festivities.
The Congress leaders were seen over crowding an open jeep. Chodankar had openly demanded that Carnival be scrapped, but looking at the attitude of Chellakumar led group, it seems that Congress is not speaking in a single tone.
