Panaji: Reacting to the criticism over new Hospicio Hospital building in Margao, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Directorate of Health Services will handle functioning of the hospital, though certain portion of it is handed over on PPP basis.
Rane said that the proposal to have private medical college in the premises was a part of decision by NITI Ayog, which was announced in the Budget.
“One has to understand that even though the project is on PPP basis, the functioning of the hospital will be controlled by Directorate of Health Services,” he said.
Rane said that the new Hospicio Hospital will be beneficial to people from South Goa in a major way.
He said that the state government is already in a process to appoint a consultant to have private medical college. NITI Ayog has allowed setting up of such private colleges across India, he added.
