Verla, Canca locals vow to oppose illegal construction in Communidade land

Mapusa: The locals led by Roy Fernandes has decided to stop the illegal construction in the Communidade land at Verla, Canca after it threatened to endanger the hill.
A group of locals, who went to the site, claimed that they were threatened by those, who were allegedly involved in illegal construction.
Fernandes pointed out that the illegal construction has been going on in full swing by cutting the hill in Communidade land.
He said that the land has been non tenanted and no one has a right to construct any structure there.
Fernandes said that they will continue the fight against the illegal construction, which is apparently happening at the behest of political forces.
Another local, Gurudas Melekar said that he has all the documents to prove that this is a communidade land and it does not have any tenant.
The locals fear that the construction will also damage the water tank of the government situated atop the hill.
