AAP MLAs have consistently been raising the alarm over several issues facing their constituencies and the state. In particular, Capt. Venzy has been highlighting issues related to poor infrastructure and disaster management.
On Friday, during the discussion on demand for grants in the assembly session, he had highlighted the dangerous condition of the footbridge located at Pedda, Varca which is used by locals as well as tourists to access Varca beach.
“The footbridge over Varca creek is severely damaged due to the monsoon, and is on the verge of collapse”, Viegas had warned, while requesting urgent intervention by the WRD minister.
As fate would have it, the footbridge highlighted by Viegaa collapsed today.
Calling it an “emergency”, Viegas had requested immediate steps to stop it the bridge from potentially being washed off in the upcoming rains.
Sadly, the request seems to have not been given the urgent attention it should have received despite being raised on the floor of the house. And the consequences of the BJP Govts apathy are being suffered by the people.
