United Boys of Majorda defeated Alcoholic Warriors of Sirvodem, Navelim with 4-0 score line in the football tournament that was organized by United Boys of Condy.
The tournament was organized on two successive Sundays at Condy Football Ground in Quepem. The Final was played between United Boys of Majorda and Alcoholic Warriors of Sirvodem- Navelim. For the winners the first goal came in first 5 minutes from Leny Fernandes. Quam Gomes and two goals from Josley Dias were the other Goal scorers of the Final Match. 32 teams participated in this tournament on two Sundays.
Hon Dy CM Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar was the Chief Guest of the Finals. Along with him Micky Fernandes, Vasco Coach and former India International was the special invitee. Ward Councillors Amol Kanekar and Prasad Faldesai and Fr. Willaim D’souza of Majorda church were amongst the guests for the prize distribution function.
Dy CM Kavlekar in his speech said that, “the ground in Condy is all set to be developed. Some land related issues were there which have now been cleared and work on a well equipped ground will start shortly”. In his speech he congratulated both the teams and said, “winning and losing is part of the game, the very fact that one two teams were playing finals from 32 participating teams, itself is a huge achievement in itself”.
