Union minister Kailash Choudhari arrives in Goa

Panaji: Central Minister for Sate Agriculture Kailash Choudhari has arrived in Goa on his one day visit to the coastal state. He was welcomed by Deputy CM and Agriculture Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar after his arrival at ICAR in Old Goa. Along with Dy CM, BJP Kisan Morcha President Vasudev Meng Gaonkar and ICAR Director Pravin Kumar were also present. BJP State party President Sadanand Tanavde also joined the minister during the visit.

*One to One meeting with central minister*
During the visit, Dy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar had a one-on-one meeting with the MoS Choudhari. They discussed various issues pertaining to the sate agriculture department. During the meeting minister Kavlekar raised the issue of change in assistance pattern from 60:40 to 90:10 in central agriculture schemes or any assistance that is provided to the state from centre. He said, “the state’s economy is going through tough times. It was already weak after mining closure, the COVID pandemic made the tourism industry suffer badly too. Considering this, the centre should consider changing the pattern of assistance to the sate”, said Minister Kavlekar to MoS Choudhari. He also highlighted the fact that the N-E states have this 90-10 pattern of assistance and state should conder it for Goa too on the same grounds. Amongst the other issues that were discussed with the MoS, pending with centre, 12 FPO to be setup under 10 thousand FPO scheme and proposal for additional 500 organic clusters was also discussed which will get more 10 thousand Ha land under organic cultivation in the state.
Responding to these demands, MoS Kaishash Choudhari invited Dy CM Kavlekar to Delhi with his delegation. He has asked to plan this meeting in the coming fortnight and invited the Goan delegation to Delhi. He said, that “I will arrange the meeting that will be chaired by Union Cabinet Minister for Agriculture Narendrasingh Tomar”.
The MoS was also welcomed to Goa by BJP party Chief Sadanand Shet Tanavade. A program was also held at ICAR that detailed the functioning of the organization in Goa and in other coastal states.
