Transport dept to go cashless from Oct 1

Panaji: Moving towards hundred percent cashless system, the State Transport department today announced that it will not accept any cash payment from October 1, this year onwards.

In a circular issued by the Directorate of Transport it has been stated that as a stop gap arrangement and to prepare necessary groundwork for going completely cashless, all cash transactions especially those exceeding Rs 1000 and above will not be accepted in cash from July 1.

Further cash payments will be accepted from 10 am to 1pm only while cashless payments will be accepted from 10am to 5pm.

All the payments will have to be done by debit or credit cards in cashless mode only.In case the individual or applicant does not possess debit or credit card, then a challan will have to be generated by respective DDO.

POS machines provided by respective banks will have to be used by the public to pay fees , taxes etc the circular states.
