Tourism Dept asked Goa Police to file FIR against Telangana-based vehicle for driving on beach, killing two gulls

Panaji: Goa Tourism Department has asked State Police to file FIR against a driver of Telangana registered SUV for illegally driving on the beach in South Goa, running through a flock of gulls, killing two of them on the spot.

A senior Tourism Department official in his communication to the State Police have pointed out that driving of vehicle on the beaches has been marked as “nuisance” through recent order.

The department has said that on November 21 at 3 p.m., one unauthorized vehicle (SUV)bearing registration Number TS-12 EY 3333 was found to be recklessly and illegally driving at Arrossim beach stretch ran over

flock of brown headed gulls resulting into death of two gulls of the flock.

“By this act, the driver of the said vehicle has violated the order duly promulgated by a Public Servant by disobeying/ violating the

directions of this Authority issued vide above referred order and has committed an offense under section 188 of IPC,” the order mentions.

The department has requested Goa Police to register a FIR against the driver of the vehicle under section 188 of Indian penal code as well as other relevant provisions in force and initiate further criminal proceedings against the Accused.
