Panaji: Alleging that BJP has a habit of blaming Jawaharlal Nehru for everything, Congress Goa chief Girish Chodankar said “thank God, they have not blamed him for pipe bust at Ponda.”

Addressing a press conference, Chodankar accused BJP of being ignorant towards the history due to which they are bus blaming former Prime Minister and Congress leader Jawaharlal Nehru for everything.

“It is a well known fact that RSS and its sister organizations were with British government when country was fighting for independence. These organizations were never with the freedom struggle,” he said.

“The way they are blaming Nehru unnecessarily, we can also say that India would have got Independence, had the institutions like RSS and its sister organizations had to participate in the freedom struggle,” Chodankar said.

He also challenged RSS to come out with the date when tri colour was unfurled on their headquarters in Nagpur. “The RSS leaders should also tell people why it took so many years for them to unfurl tri colour on their headquarters, if they claim to be patriotic,” the Congress leader said.

Chodankar said that “BJP leaders were time and again trying to assassinate, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as they are still afraid of him.”

Referring to the recent statement by former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that liberation of Goa was delayed due to wrong priorities of Nehru, Chodankar said that then central government wanted to have non-violent means to add this part to India (liberate).

“When all the possibilities of non-violence were over, then the armed forces were sent to liberate Goa. BJP leaders should understand the circumstances of that time before making irresponsible comments,” he said.
