Panaji: In a major move, the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board chaired by Minister Vijai Sardesai today decided to redraft the outline development plans (ODPs) for Panaji, Mapusa and Vasco.
The board has decided to redraft the ODPs following uniform procedures as mandated by the TCP Act.
The Panaji ODP is currently been challenged before High Court; while the Mapusa ODP is already approved by government. However, the social activist had alleged that the plans have been drafted without following proper procedures.
The board has also decided to allow relaxation of setback and coverage to the Shri Krishna Mandir as a special case since it is the only temple of the Harijan Samaj in Goa.
It has also decided to reduce the width of the road from 25mtrs to 15mtrs of MDR 37 affecting the Our Lady of Merces Church, Colva which is more than 400 years old.
The board resolved to confirm the decrease of the width of the road from 20mtrs to 15mtrs as per RP 2021, thus allowing the extra coverage to the Curchorem-Cacora municipal council complex.
The meeting is adjourned to September 3.
