Panaji: Former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar on Tuesday announced his retirement from active politics to form state-level “Federation of Hindu Organisations.”

On Tuesday,Velingkar stepped down as a chief of Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), a political outfit floated by him after he quit RSS en-mass in the year 2016.

“I have been asked by my parent organization, which is “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” to resign from the active politics and take over the responsibility of forming Federation of Hindu Organisations in Goa.

The 71-year-old leader said that he will be pro-actively fighting the ‘Jihad’ launched by Popular Front of India (PFI) through various means including anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitations across the country, and even Goa.

Velingkar, a political critique of BJP leader Manohar Parrikar, was relieved from the charge of RSS Goa chief in September 2016, after which he floated the GSM.

Initially, Velingkar refrained from participating in the active politics, but later announced his foray in the politics in the year 2018.

He had unsuccessfully fought by election in Panaji Assembly segment in May, 2019 on GSM ticket. The election was necessitated after Parrikar’s demise in March, 2017.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday, Velingkar appealed Goa Church “not to get associated with PFI in their activities which they run in the guise of agitations like anti-CAA protests.”

He said that the muslim organizations were spreading Jihad across India. He said that spread of COVID-19 through Tablighi was also an instance of Jihad.
