Fatorda: Months after being dropped from the cabinet, NDA partner Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Monday said that they are still searching the answer whether it was their mistake to support Manohar Parrikar-led government in the year 2017.
Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai told a gathering in his constituency of Fatorda on Monday that he is still searching for the answer to a question whether it was a mistake to support Parrikar to form the government after BJP failed to garner the required numbers post-2017 Goa Assembly election results.
GFP, Independents and MGP had supported BJP in the year 2017 on a pre-condition that Parrikar, who was then Union Defence Minister, should be sworn in as the Chief Minister of the State.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had dropped Sardesai along with his two colleagues – Vinod Palienkar and Jayesh Salgaonkar – from the cabinet after he inducted ten Congress MLAs into the BJP.
“I am still trying to find out answer for the question whether it was my mistake to support Manohar Parrikar . I am yet to get the answer for it. The answer is in delhi. I am waiting for it,” he said in an indirect reference to BJP high command, which had taken the decision to cobble alliance of their party with GFP and others.
Sardesai, who is former Deputy Chief Minister, also said that he is pondering over another question whether he should have supported new chief minister after demise of Parrikar.
“I faced criticism (after I supported Sawant). People are questioning me why I supported the new chief minister when I was always claiming that my support is for Parrikar. I have to find out the answer for this,” he said.
“I am going to get the answer for New Year. We will come to know what is a way ahead for us. We will take goem, goemkar goemkarponn (Goa, Goans and Goanness) forward,” the MLA said.
