Panaji: Minister for Cooperation Govind Gaude today announced that government will construct a new full-fledged Rs 100 crore sugar factory in next one year.
The decision comes at the backdrop of closer of Sanjivani Sahakari Sugar factory.
Gaude said that the new industry would be on public-private partnership model and will ensure that it is operational atleast 364 days a year.
Gaude said that along with sugar, the focus would be on ethanol production.
He asked sugarcane farmers not to worry as government will buy all their produce and give it to a factory in Karnataka.
