Benaulim: This is not a good news for INDIA Alliance in Goa. Goa Pradesh Congress committee general secretary Royla Fernandes has announced that she would be contesting upcoming Benaulim ZP by election as an Independent candidate.

The announcement comes in contradiction to the statement by GPCC chief Amit Patkar wherein he had claimed that the seat would be contested by AAP as INDIA Alliance candidate.

Talking to GNH on Sunday evening, Royla said “as of now, I have decided to go Independent in Benaulim ZP by election.”

AAP led by MLA Venzy Viegas is gearing up to face the polls in this constituency which had voted in favour INDIA Alliance candidate Viriato Fernandes during recently held Lok Sabha election.

AAP is yet to announce their candidate. The last date of filing nomination is June 12.
