PM Modi to inaugurate National Games in Goa in October: CM

Panaji: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Games in Goa in the month of October, 2023, Chief minister Pramod Sawant said.
Sawant on Wednesday held meeting with Indian Olympics Association Chairman P T Usha in Panaji which reviewed the preparations for the National Games. State Sports Minister Govind Gaude was also present on the occasion.
Talking to reporters, Sawant said that the National Games would be held in Goa in the month of October and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Tentatively the inauguration will be held on October 23 or October 24, depending on the appointment of the PM,” Sawant said adding that the Games will continue till November 10.
He said that the inauguration ceremony would be held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Fatorda in South Goa.
IOA Chairman P T Usha said that the preparations for the National Games was reviewed. She said that the state is ready to host the games.
State Sports Minister Govind Gaude said that 38 disciplines have been identified for the National Games. He said that all the venues are ready to host the event.
Gaude said that the technical team of IOA has inspected the venues and one more team would be arriving in the state on April 27.
