Honda: The village of Honda in Sattari taluka was on the boil on Wednesday morning after Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar slapped local representative Suresh Madkar, who was agitating over the transportation of the iron ore.
Several hundred people blocked the road connecting Honda to Valpoi on Wedneday morning demanding immediate suspension of Ekoskar. The people also demanded him to tender the apology.
The trouble started when a group of people had blocked the mining transport at Sonshi village due to some local issues. When the police force arrived at the scene, Ekoskar and Madkar had verbal dual after which the latter was summoned to Honda outpost.
As per the admission of Ekoskar, he assaulted Madkar at Police Outpost. The locals also claimed that the PI hurled bad words.
The situation continued to remained tensed in the village after which Deputy Superintendent of Police Gurudas Gawade arrived at the spot. The locals demanded that Eksokar be suspended immediately from the service.
In order to control the situation, Gawade assured that he would suspend Ekoskar.
While ruckus continued outside the Police Outpost, Ekoskar finally apologized to the people of Honda admitting that he had assaulted Madkar.
