Panaji: Heavy rainfalls in Goa which are directly a result of low-pressure area developed in the sea are causing a panic among farmer community. Farming is a gamble as farmers highly depend on adequate amount of rain. Too much or even too little can cause a lot of crop failure.

The farmers have started paddy harvesting of the Kharif season crop, with mechanised harvestors. “We are giving compensation to farmers through our club,” said Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte. This year during pandemic farmers have suffered an added danger of heavy rain. The new mechanised harvesters have helped farmers.

Farmers are keeping thier fingers crossed and are in a hurry to get the fields harvested. Rain also makes it difficut for farmers to transport this harvested paddy to thier house.
