Panaji: Even as State government has given thrust on being organic in the farms, the experts claim that there are no enough platforms to sell the products.

Renowned agriculturist Dr Sachin Tendulkar took on to social media to respond to Goa government’s intentions to promote organic farming. A farmer himself, Tendulkar said that  Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana will help the farmers for organic certification of their farm. “But what about the sale arrangements for organic produce? There is already organic cashew being produced in Goa. But other than two Cooperative Society who pay them a special premium no other help is there,” he said in his post.

“In fact, the government should facilitate promotion of Goan organic cashew, black pepper, Kokum, Alsando, Salad Onions, Coconut at to be held Vibrant Goa exhibition,” he added.

“Special kiosk for Goan organic produce should be opened at Goa Airport, Panaji, Margao, Calangute and few other locations where people appreciate and buy organic at premium.”

“Since organic is produced in less quantity there should be arrangements in place to aggregate and transport the produce from interior areas to cities.”
