NSS, Red Ribbon Club launched at Govt Higher Secondary School, Valpoi

Valpoi: Government Higher Secondary School, Valpoi launched two of the most important social service initiatives – NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club – for the Academic year 2021-22.
Headmaster of Swami Vivekanand Vidya Mandir School, Keri, Mr Gopinath Gawas was the chief guest for the event while JC.Shaba Gauns, President of JCI, Sanquelim was the guest of honour.
NSS unit of the school and Red Ribbon Club, an initiative creating awareness on HIV, was launched at the hands of Gawas.
Principal of the Higher Secondary School Riyaz Jamadar welcomed the guests while Ms. Pradnya Mayekar, teacher in the institution administered oath of NSS and Red Ribbon Club to the students.
Teacher, Ms.Amreen Khan briefed the gathering about the Importance of N.S.S and Red Ribbon Club and highlighted various activities carried out under the same.
NSS unit is spearheaded by senior teacher Leena Kalangutkar while Red Ribbon Club is coordinated by NSQF Instructor in Healthcare ,Dr Gauresh Naik.
In his inspiring speech, Mr Gawas asked the students to emulate the real spirit of NSS which says “Not Me But You” which reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. “NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings,” he said.
He narrated how his life has changed with the experiences during the NSS service during his college days. “Toghether, we can work to build a better humanity,” Mr Gawas said.
In his speech, JC Shaba Gawas informed the students on various activities undertaken by JCI Sanquelim for the overall development of the society.
He said that JCI helps in building personality of individual and makes him future ready.
While NSQF Instructor in Electronics, Ms. Nikita Desai compered the function, Teacher Nita Ghadi gave vote of Thanks.
