In response to a request from Collector & District Magistrate office, South Goa District, a team of six Indian Navy divers from Goa Naval Area were expeditiously deployed on the night of 16/17 Sep to search for a boy who drowned at Dudhsagar waterfall in Dharbandora Taluka.

The divers carried out a survey of the site alongwith local police. Using an inflatable craft, out board motor, diving equipment and accessories, the team searched until well past midnight. The increased flow of the waterfall and steep rocky slopes compounded the risk and difficulty of the search team. Resuming the next morning, the team searched for almost five hours before they were able to locate the body of the deceased near a tree root in the river bed.
