Panaji: Narendra Modi-led government will never take any decision that would put countrymen to embarrassing situation, a senior BJP leader said on Sunday.
BJP National Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna addressing workers’ convention in Goa on Sunday said that Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA) would give relief to those who are facing persecution on religious basis in the neighbouring countries.
Khanna was talking to workers after announcing Sadanand Shet Tanavade as the new chief of the party in Goa in presence of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other leaders in Panaji.
“I would like to assure everyone that Modi-led government will not take any decision that would put countrymen to embarrassing situation,” Khanna said.
He said that the central government is working to fulfill aspiration of the people who got it elected in the country.
He pointed out that issues like triple talaque, repealing of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and CAA were taken up during Modi-led government’s tenure.
Khanna appealed the party workers to spread around in the State and “humbly explain to the people about the CAA.”
He said that there is difference between infiltrators and refugees. “If someone forcibly comes in your home with ulterior aim of creating problem then he is infiltrator, while if someone comes to your place seeking shelter, then he is refugee,” Khanna said.
He said that infiltrators need to be dealt with firmly while refugees should be given the protection.
