Panaji : Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Kumar Meena has informed that a case has been registered on the accused persons involved in the Minor rape case. “We have intensified patrolling on the beaches to prevent such crom from happening in the future,” said Meena.

CM Dr Pramod Sawant faced  pressure from the opposition on 28 July in the Goa assembly session. Sawant during a debate on calling attention notice in the House said “When 14 year olds stay on the beach the whole night, the parents need to introspect. we cannot put the entire responsibility on the government and police.”

Sawant who is also the home minister had to face public outcry after his statement on ,minor rape case.

MLA of Porvorim Rohan Khunte tweeted “It is shocking that @goacm is blaming parents for allowing their children to venture out in the night claiming that it is not safe. If the state govt can’t assure us of our security, who can give it?Goa has a history of being safe state for women, that tag is being lost in @BJP4Goa rule”

One of the four accused in the Benaulim case wherein two minor girls were gang-raped, is a government servant. In today’s assembly session CM informed that he has been suspended from the job.
