Margao: In what seems to be reflecting the bizarre situation on the healthcare front in South Goa, a nine-year-old girl who was suffering from Cancer lost her life due to delay on the part of ambulance to shift her from Hospicio Hospital in Margao to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

The death created anger amongst the relatives and well wishers of the girl who demanded that Health Minister Vishwajit Rane should come at the spot. Rane who assured them to arrive did not turn up and instead left for Mumbai.

Pavel Pereira breathed her last in an ambulance as the hospital authorities were waiting for two other patients to be shifted in the vehicle along with her to transport them to Goa Medical College and Hospital.

The girl was suffering from Cancer and was admitted in Hospicio Hospital on Wednesday morning but her health started deteriorating. Her father, Avito Pereira said that his daughter was shifted to the ambulance in which there was already one patient waiting to be shifted.

When Ambulance was about to leave, the nurse said that two more patients who were victims of the accident were also supposed to be moved in. This entire process delayed further, due to which Pavel breathed her last.

Her death sent shock waves with the relatives and well wishers demanding explanation from the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital. They also pressed for Health minister’s presence at the spot.

Eye witnesses stated that Rane had agreed to visit the hospital due to which the relatives were waiting. But he didn’t turn up keeping them waiting. Instead he left for Mumbai from where he is expected to fly to Delhi.
