Panaji: All India Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi has appointed Goa MLA Michael Lobo as Leader of Opposition of State Legislative Assembly.
In a press note released here on Thursday, AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal has said that Gandhi has appointed Michael Lobo as the Leader of Opposition while Sankalp Amonkar is a Deputy Leader of Opposition.
Lobo, a former minister in Pramod Sawant-led cabinet, had shifted the sides to Congress in the run up for Goa Legislative Assembly election, which was held on February 14, 2022.
Gandhi has also appointed Congress leader Amit Patkar as the President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee while Yuri Alemao is the working president.
Savio D’Silva has been appointed as President of South Goa District Committee while Viren Shirodkar will head North Goa Pradesh District Committee.
