MGP to finalize its candidate for LS polls in two days- Dhavlikar

Panaji: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak party (MGP), the allies in BJP led state coalition government, is likely to finalize its candidates for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, in next two days.

Though, an informal meeting had been called by the MGP senior leaders- Sudin Dhavlikar and Deepak Dhavlikar to shortlist the candidates for the LS polls, the final decision are expected in two days. MGP’s probable North Goa candidate for LS- Naresh Sawal will be also present for the meeting. Sudin is their possible candidate for South Goa.

When contacted, Deepak said that no official meeting is scheduled today but in next two days it will be held and our candidates will be finalized. “We are going ahead with LS polls and by-elections in Mandrem and Mapusa too along with Shiroda. Candidate finalization will be done in two days,” he said.

The decision to contest parliamentary polls was taken after BJP sacked MGP MLA Sudin from the cabinet. Also, two of MGP MLAs- Manohar Azgaonkar and Deepak Pawaskar merged their legislative wing with BJP last week.
