IMA Women Doctors’ wing held awareness on menstruation and menopause

Ponda:  Dr Medha Salkar, President of Women Doctors’ wing of Indian Medical Association held an awareness and informative talk on “women’s health and problems and how to overcome them in menstruation and menopause “at village keri at Ponda taluka.

It was organised by Indian Human Rights Association in association with Manipal Hospital, Dona Paula. 

The event was well attended by around 65 odd ladies of all age groups.

The programme well received by them and also well appreciated.

Dr. Shekhar Salkar,  Chièf Department of  Oncology, Manipal Hospital,  delivered a talk on “breast cancer awareness” and examined all ladies for breast cancer.

Around 23 Breast tests  were performed  and  5 ladies were detected of having lumps were further referred to higher centre.

Another four ladies with thyroid problem were also identified.

Dr Mahadev Swami, Haemato oncologist also spoke on the occasion on Anaemia and early diagnosis of blood cancers.

 Dr. Shekhar Salkar inaugurated the camp in the presence of Mr Navnath Khandeparkar, President of IHRA and Judge Jagdish Prabhudesai and other members of IHRA.
