Panaji: The recently formed apolitical group ‘Mhadei Bachao Andolan (MBA) has set seven days deadline to State government to solve the Mhadei issue, failing which has threatened to be ready for the consequences.

MBA  today had organized state-level melava which was attended by around 200 people. Over 100 associations have extended support to MBA.

Well-known environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar was the key-note speaker, who in his speech put across various facts about River Mhadei and the ill effect of water diversion. He also exposed Karnataka’s plan of diversion of water from Mhadei river to Malaprabha basin.

MBA convenor Subhash Velingkar accused BJP for making politics out of Mhadei issue ahead of by-elections in Karnataka.

“I challenge Pramod Sawant led government to resign enmass if they are not capable to solve Mhadei issue in seven days,” he said.
