Pernem: Mandrem police on Saturday claimed that the assault on former Mandrem sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar was over the land deal issue.
Police Inspector Narayan Chimulkar told reporters that the investigation, so far, has revealed that it was due to the land deal.
Five accused are arrested by Mandrem police in connection with the assault.
He said that more details about the investigation would be revealed soon.
