Mapusa – The world is battling against the deadly Covid pandemic. Thousand have lost lives all across the globe. It is our duty to give respectful farewell to all those who succumb to Covid. No one should obstruct the final rites of any Covid infected body said GPCC General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar.

It is unfortunate what happened in Bastora yesterday. Government must take immediate steps to ensure that such incidents are not repeated elsewhere in Goa. People should not listen to any rumours and must give whatever possible help in performing last rites on Covid infected dead said Amarnath Panjikar.

It is a false notion that Covid virus spreads from dead body. Everyone must use mask, maintain hygiene and social distancing and perform the duties. Everyone should think beyond religion, caste, creed and come out to help others in this tough times of Covid pandemic appealed Amarnath Panjikar.

Today, Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare Workers, Ambulance and Hearse Van drivers are working day and night to save and help Covid patients and their families. If they start thinking differently, the situation will turn into a nightmare warned Amarnath Panjikar.

I appeal to each and every Panchayat and Municipal Council in Goa to immediately set up a co-ordination team and ensure that all those who pass away are given due respect in their own villages or cities for performing last rites.
