Panaji: An Indian Coast Guard Officer and another girl has tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Goa on Wednesday taking the total tally to 41 active cases in the coastal state.
A senior Health department officer said that an officer from Indian Coast Guard who was part of the eleven-member team that entered Goa from Mumbai and Jamnagar has tested positive for COVID-19 infection.
The tests conducted on ten other of his fellow officers who travelled with him are negative, but they are quarantined, he said.
This is the first case of defence forces’ personnel having being found infected in the coastal state, which was declared as green zone on May 01, but has found spurt in the cases since May 13.
The officer said that another girl who travelled from Pune has tested positive for COVID-19 infection on TrueNat test and her repeat sample is sent for confirmation at Goa Medical College and Hospital for confirmation.
He said that she had entered Goa along with twenty-one other people, who have tested negative and are currently moved to facility quarantine.
Till Tuesday evening, the state had registered 39 active cases for COVID-19 infection. Goa has registered no deaths, seven people have been recovered since the outbreak of this pandemic, while total 9549 tests were conducted on different people, till date.
