Panaji: Goa government’s appointment of Dr V N Jindal as one of the member on the experts committee to inquire into the Oxygen supply issues at Goa Medical College and Hospital has raised eyebrows.

Interestingly, it was only during the tenure of Dr Jindal that the Scoop Oxygen was given the contract of GMCH.

Also, the failure to introduce  the LMO (Liquid Medical Oxygen) in the GMCH during his long nine-year-old tenure has also got him under the radar in the current circumstances when the issue is about the Oxygen supply to the Apex hospital.

IIT Director Dr B K Mishra and Dr Tarique Thomas are the member on three member committee.

A close look at the records in the GMCH indicates that it was during Jindal’s tenure in the year 2010 that the contract with Scoop Oxygen was signed.

Then Dean never thought about introducing the LMO to the hospital.

Interestingly, when the issue of Oxygen has come up now, it is the same Dean, who has been appointed on the committee to point out to the lacunas.

The conflict of interest seems to be eminent in the current scenario when Jindal would be probing into the system, which he had introduced himself.

The closeness of Jindal to one of a senior bureaucrat in the state administration has also been  a point of discussion as the issue of clash of interest surfaces in the appointment of the committee.
