Panaji: Of the total 180 crores collected under District Mineral Foundation (DMF), government has spent so far only 1.07 crore towards people affected with mining activities. Water supply is the only project that has been executed.

Goa Foundation director Claude Alvares in a press release said that only in the area of drinking water, some work has been done. The water supply project of the DMF amount to Rs.1.07 crores so far, he said adding that the focus on drinking water is solely due to their PIL on behalf of Sonshi villagers filed before High Court

Alvares said that despite Rs 180 crore, 90 each in North and South Goa DMF,  government is still unable to fund serious social and development projects like education, electrification, environment, health care, housing, infrastructure, irrigation, sanitation, skill development and sports.

Government has spent around Rs 62,87,224.48 for water projects in North Goa villages and another Rs 44,18,621 for South Goa.
