Panaji: Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) today discharged the show cause notices issued to coal handling units- Jindal owned M/s South West Port Limited (SWPL) and Adani ports for pollution in Vasco.
The decision was taken during the Board meeting held today.
While discharging the show cause notices, Board has decided to direct the coal handling units to pay penalty on line with polluter pays principle for exceeding the Particulate Matter (PM) leading to pollution.
Board also further decided to direct the units to install CCTV cameras at the site for real time viewing of pollution control measures adopted by them.
GSPCB Chairman Ganesh shetgaonkar said that Board decided to discharge the show cause notices issued to coal handling units.
