Nuvem:  The Executive members of GOENCHO EKVOTT met MLA of Nuvem Constituency Shri. Wilfred D’Sa at his office and submitted a memorandum to strongly reject proposal for meeting with Collector regarding land acquisition and to reiterate our demand for opposing double tracking & coal transportation through Goa.

Last week at an awareness program at Majorda, the Hon. MLA informed the gathered villagers that a meeting is scheduled with the Collector of South Goa regarding the land acquisition in villages under his constituency affected due to the proposed double tracking by the South Western Railways.

GOENCHO EKVOTT wholeheartedly and in a loud voice stated that they are rejecting the very idea of land acquisition and the proposed discussion with the Collector in that aspect because any talk about land acquisition is tantamount to accepting the transportation of coal through our villages.

“Our sole objective is to OPPOSE DOUBLE TRACKING AND COAL TRANSPORTATION THROUGH GOA, and we will do all that is required to fight alongside the people of Goa to scrap the very idea of coal passing through Goa, as it is meant only to profit the crony capitalists and with absolutely no benefit accrued to the State of Goa. And we are convinced that you as our MLA will stand by us and oppose the very idea of coal transportation.”

In view of the above, we requested the Hon. MLA to kindly call off the proposed meeting with the Collector and take up the matter strongly with the government to scrap the proposed land acquisition for double tracking and coal transportation through our villages and our state of Goa.
