Panaji: Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar had a miraculous escape earlier this week when his car hit the divider due to a technical snag at New Zuari Bridge in South Goa.
Talking to GNH on Friday, the Speaker confirmed that the accident happened when he was on his way to attend the ongoing monsoon session of the legislative assembly escorted by police vehicles at the front and rear.
He said that the accident happened on July 17 at New Zuari Bridge when his official car developed a technical snag and both the rear wheels of the vehicle got jammed when they were going at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
The car suddenly started skidding towards the divider, hit the divider and then flung in the air before dropping down in the same position, he said.
Tawadkar said that neither he nor his staff including his Personal Security Officer who were in the car were injured.
The speaker later travelled to legislative assembly in his police escort car.
The monsoon session of goa legislative assembly has begun from Monday.
