Panaji: Goa government on Tuesday revoked the technical permission given to the controversial structure at Old Goa, which has resulted in the protests.

State Town and Country Planning Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar told reporters that the permission granted for the controversial structure has been revoked by the department.

He alleged that the entire permission was granted to them based on the documents which were fraudulently produced before the department.

Several villagers are on a strike at Old Goa since last seven days demanding demolition of the illegal structure which has come up next to World Heritage Monuments. Aam Aadmi Party leader Amit Palekar has began fast unto death over the issue.

The protestors have pointed out that the property is being rebuilt by husband of BJP spokesman Shaina NC by violating all the required rules.

Kavlekar said that the original owners of the property were given permission to repair their structure spread across 50 square metres with the condition that they have to obtain NOC from National Monument Authority.

He said that the permission was never sought and on the other hand a huge structure of ground plus one was being built at that place.
