Panaji: In a major decision, Goa Education Department on Friday gave its node for Higher Secondary Schools to conduct examinations for eleventh and twelfth standard in offline mode.

Director of Education Bhushan Savaikar, in a circular issued on Friday, said that during the  Covid-19 crisis, the Directorate of Education has received quite many requests from the various Higher Secondary Schools to allow them to conduct examinations in offline mode.

He said that the department has decided to permit Higher Secondary Schools in the state to conduct examinations in offline mode for the students of Standard tenth and twelfth provided they follow all necessary Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures, protocols and guidelines issued from time to time by the central and state government.

The Directorate of Education has put several riders to the Higher Secondary Schools while allowing the examination in offline mode.

“Only vaccinated staff shall be allowed in the school premises. Those who cannot produce vaccination certificate shall be allowed after producing the negative report of RTPCR test. Such report shall be valid for seven days and a fresh report shall be produced after seventh day,” the circular reads.

“The number of students in every classroom at a time will be limited to 50 per cent of the capacity of the classroom. Students shall be made to sit in the classrooms by following social distancing norms and shall always use a mask, when in the school,” the Directorate of Education has said.

Every student and staff shall be checked for his or her body temperature before entering the school premises, it reads.

In order to avoid spreading of the infection, the Directorate has also said that entire school premises shall be sanitized every day prior to the opening of the school.
