Goa government still examining the issue of formulating casino policy

Porvorim: After missing a deadline of August 2018 to formulate its casino policy, Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant told the House that they are “examining” the matter regarding the formation of the policy.

Responding to a question tabled by congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Sawant said that the State government is still examining the matter regarding formation of the Casino policy.

The congress MLA had sought details of the progress on Casino policy which was supposed to be ready by August 2018, almost a year back.

Goa has six off shore and dozen of on shore casinos operating in the state, which are prime attraction for the tourists.

Sawant also told the House that the matter regarding appointing Gaming Commissioner for the State which was due in December 2018 is “under examination.”
