Goa government launches Drone Policy, Additive Manufacturing Hub

Panaji: The Goa government on Monday launched its Drone Policy 2022 with an aim to position Goa as one of the key states in India’s drone ecosystem, harnessing the opportunities to promote manufacturing, sustainable, innovation, generate employment and provide value-added services in the state.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in presence of Information and Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte launched the policy that would promote drone design, manufacting, testing and maintenance facilities in the state.

Sawant also inaugurated Additive Manufacturing Hub at the head office of Information and Technology Department in Panaji.

Talking to reporters after the launching of the policy, Khaunte said that the policy aims to position Goa as one of the key states in India’s drone ecosystem, harnessing the opportunities to promote manufacturing, sustainable, innovation, generate employment and provide value-added services in the state.

He said that the policy will encourage the use of drones for innovative delivery of citizen services with a focus in the areas of agriculture, forestry, horticulture, healthcare, mining and tourism.

“The stress is also to build institutional and academic capacity on drone technology within the state. It will also increase awareness of drone technology amongst public and private sector entities through hosting of various technology conclaves in the state,” Khaunte said.
