Total 22 houses which were built illegally in the land owned by local communidade (community institution) were demolished by the authorities as a part of Supreme Court order on Friday and Saturday at Sangolda village in North Goa.

Reacting to the demolition, Karnataka CM had written on his X handle: Deeply concerned by the demolition of homes belonging to Kannadigas in Sangolda, Goa. I appeal to the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri @DrPramodPSawant, to cease further demolitions immediately until alternatives are provided and ensure all displaced individuals receive adequate rehabilitation. It’s crucial we uphold the dignity and stability of every affected family.”
BJP Goa spokesman Giriraj Pai Vernekar has reacted sharply to the statement by the Karnataka CM.

Vernekar on Sunday told GNH that Karnataka CM should first look at the crisis in his own state. He is unable to take care of his own people.

“Bengaluru is reeling under severe water crisis. As far as the demolition drive is concerned, it is being carried out due to Supreme Court’s directive and there is a deadline to file the report,” he said.

Vernekar said that tt was the communidade that went to court. “Hon’ble CM of Goa has already promised that all possible help will be given,” he added.
