Panaji: Days after a differently-abled student had to return back without attending the ongoing session of legislative assembly, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said that the session has been made accessible to the disabled visitors.

Tawadkar along with chief minister Pramod Sawant and state social welfare minister Subhash Phal Desai welcomed a group of differently-abled wheel-chair bound visitors to the assembly session on Tuesday.

The Speaker said that state commissioner for persons with disabilities Guruprasad Pawaskar had brought to his notice that a differently-abled student had to return back without attending the session last week due to accessibility issues.

Tawadkar said that the issue was addressed immediately by providing wheel-chair facilities for the differently-abled persons. “We have ensured that anyone who arrives here to attend the session is able to witness the proceedings,” he said.

The speaker said that the arrangement has also been made in the visitors’ gallery for differently-abled guests.
