Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar today filed his nomination from the North Goa parliamentary constituency for the ensuing general elections for Lok Sabha to be held on April 23.

Chodankar  submitted his nomination papers to the District Election Officer R Menaka.

He was accompanied by his party’s legislative wing led by Chandrakant Kavlekar and hundreds of supporters.

Speaking to reporters after filing nomination papers, Chodankar said that he wants to be the voice of Goans in the Parliament. “I want to be the voice of Goans that remained unraised and unheard in the Parliament for past 20 years. I want to be the voice of common man,” he said.

Chodankar will have to fight it out against BJP’s four time MP and Union Minister for AYUSH Shripad Naik.

Meanwhile, Congress’ candidate from South Goa Parliamentary seat former MP Francisco Sardinha will be filing his nominations tomorrow.
