Panaji: Four Russians, including three women, were dramatically rescued from drowning off Mandrem beach in North Goa by Drishti Marine lifesavers on Thursday afternoon.
The spokesman of Drishti Marine, the lifesaving agency appointed by the Goa government, said that three women, aged 27, 20, and 40 years, along with one man, aged 46 years, found themselves in distress after sudden and unexpected high waves surged in the area.
“The group had ventured into the water just as the conditions quickly became unsafe for swimming,” the spokesman said.
He said that all four foreigners panicked in the water and signaled for help. Recognizing the distress signals, the lifesavers rushed into the water with a rescue board.
The spokesman said that the successful rescue operation was conducted by Drishti Marine, whose trained lifesavers are responsible for beach safety along Goa’s coastline.
“Drishti Marine would like to remind beachgoers to always remain vigilant of sea conditions, avoid swimming in unsafe waters, and heed the guidance of lifesavers for their own safety,” he said.
