Panaji: The Panaji police today registered an FIR against Goa Foundation director Claude Alvares and his associate Rahul Basu for locking Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) thereby allegedly damaging government property.

On Saturday, Alvares had locked the state’s DMG office alleging that the department was the biggest source of all the illegalities.

Alvares is the petitioner in the Supreme Court in various cases pertaining to illegal mining.

The police said that FIR is registered following complaint from DMG official Yashwant Talgiri against activist Claude Alvares and Rahul Basu.

FIR is registered for damage to public property, wrong confinement and obstruction to public servant while on duty.
