Panaji: The stubbornness of Goa police not to register FIR against a major racket providing fake caste certificates has provoked the people to have many presumptions. One of them is that if FIR is filed in this matter, few of the policemen themselves would have to lose their job, as they have provided certificates from the same accused.
The news is making around that a Police Sub Inspector who was earlier attached to Verna Police Station and now at Vasco has been working overtime to make sure that the FIR is not filed.
For those who had not read our earlier stories, this is a quick recap: Social activists including Kashinath Shetye, and Inacio Pereira had filed a police complaint against one Andrew D’Cunha accusing him of giving fake cast certificates under the name of Cristian Backward Classes association. He gave certificates for Christian Render, Christian Mahar and Christian Kharvi.
The certificates were used to contest the panchayat election in reserved wards. Also they were used to get government jobs and scheme. Vasco police did not act on the complaint which was referred to DySP Vasco.
After that Inacio Pereira filed the same complaint before Crime Branch his case was referred to Panaji Police Station where it is currently being held back without any FIR.
The sources stated that one of the PSI has been trying hard to ensure that the FIR is not filed in this matter. The arrest of the accused or his statement can lead to opening up of Pandora’s Box leading to suspension of several government servants and disqualification of several elected representatives.
Through Goanewshub we have been following up this issue and will continue doing it till police acts.
