Expert Panel submits report to GOVT on alleged land conversions; NGO fails to provide documents

Panaji: The Town and Country Planning ( TCP) constituted five member expert panel today submitted its report to the government on the alleged land conversions involving politicians as alleged by the NGO Goencho Avaaz.
The committee comprising Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI)
member Venancio Fernandes, Institute of Engineers, India  (IEI)
members Ernesto Moniz and Paresh Gaitonde, Indian Institute of
Architects, Goa Chapter chairman Manguesh Prabhugaonkar and Chief Town
Planner Rajesh Naik, was directed to submit the report by June 1.
The cmmittee was constituted on April 30 and had even issued notice to the Goencho Avaaz and other speakers.
During a public meeting at Lohia Maidan, activists under the banner of ‘Goencho Avaaz, named 14 politicians including the TCP Minister, for having allegedly illegally converted land into settlement and commercial zones.
Sources said that the committee has submitted eight-page report to the Secretary TCP expressing its helplessness in continuing with the probe as no NGO came forward to substantiate the allegations.
