Goa: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, is thrilled to announce the launch of the highly anticipated Deepotsav 2023 celebration, an event that promises to be an attractive blend of tradition and festivity. Set against the backdrop of the tranquil coastal state, Deepotsav 2023 will brighten the spirit of joy and unity, bringing together participants and spectators from all corners of Goa.
This year, Deepotsav pays homage to the legendary tale of Lord Krishna’s courageous triumph over the demon Narkasur, emphasizing the remarkable portrayal of Lord Krishna as a warrior. With a special focus on the Narkasur Vadh competition, attendees can expect a spectacular display of creativity and talent, as participants bring the epic tale to life through their performances.
One of the most anticipated segments of the festival, the ‘All Goa Narkasur Vadh Spardha,’ is set to take place at the Housing Board Plot, located next to the SCERT Building, Service Road, Alto Porvorim, Bardez, Goa, on November 11, 2023, commencing from 9:30 PM onwards. Participants will have the opportunity to vie for the prestigious first prize of Rupees 2,50,000, with the second and third prizes standing at Rupees 1,50,000 and Rupees 100,000, respectively. This competition promises to be a captivating spectacle that will encapsulate the essence of bravery and victory.
Speaking about the event, the Honorable Tourism Minister of Goa, Shri. Rohan A. Khauthe, expressed, “I extend my warm Diwali wishes to all the citizens of Goa. The Narkasur Vadh symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and we should all strive for the betterment of humanity. In addition to the Narkasur Vadh Spardha, Deepotsav 2023 will feature a variety of other engaging competitions that are sure to captivate the hearts of the audience. These include the ‘All Goa Fancy Dress Competition,’ the ‘All Goa Akash Kandil Spardha,’ and the ‘All Goa Fugadi Dance Competition.’ Each of these competitions has been designed to showcase the diverse cultural heritage and artistic talents prevalent in Goa.
