Panaji: The Crime Branch has arrested Deepali Parab, aged 42, a resident of Kalyan, Mumbai, and wife of Myron Rodrigues, the main accused in a multi-crore investment scam that defrauded numerous investors. Rodrigues had been absconding.
The arrest was made after a thorough investigation, which revealed that Deepali Parab was actively involved in the fraudulent activities and played a crucial role in the scam.
Investigations have shown that the main accused and his wife cheated investors by promising high returns on their investments. They collected crores of rupees from innocent investors, which were misappropriated for personal gain.
Deepali Parab has been arrested in EOC Case No. 04/2024 under Sections 406 and 420 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 3 and 5 of the GPID Act. She will be produced before the magistrate for remand tomorrow. The case is currently under investigation by the Crime Branch.
Earlier, the ex-wife of the main accused, Sunita Rodrigues, was arrested and later released on bail by the District Sessions Court, Margao. She was subsequently taken into custody by MHB Colony Police Station for her involvement in FIR No. 12/24 under Sections 406, 409, and 420 read with 34 of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the MPID Act.
Deepali Parab is also wanted in a case registered at MHB Colony Police Station.
