Porvorim: In a shocking move, Health Department has transferred full time Medical Officer attached to Porvorim Primary Health Centre, while assigning additional charge to his counterpart from Candolim at the backdrop of rising COVID19 cases in Porvorim.

Local MLA Rohan Khaunte has termed this as an act of “stooping low” on the part of CM Dr Pramod P Sawant and his administration.

Health department has issued order transferring Dr Shikandar Talwar from PHC Porvorim to Sanguem. Candolim PHC Medical Officer Dr Roshan Nazareth has been given additional charge.

The transfer order comes at the backdrop of COVID-19 cases in Porvorim crossing 350 count and the local MLA beginning “free outdoor sanitisation drive” in the infected areas.

Reacting to the transfer, Khaunte wrote on social media “Dr. Pramod Sawant and his administration stoop low with their politics everyday! Coronavirus cases in Porvorim have been at a steep rise and in such difficult situation, Porvorim Health Center Doctor Talwar who has been doing a excellent job has been transferred & Candolim-Calangute PHC Dr.Roshan Nazareth has been given an additional charge of Porvorim.”

“With increasing cases, Porvorim needs a full time doctor! Is this the time to do politics risking lives of people? If casualties increase in Porvorim, only and only CMO Goa & Vishwajit P RANE will be responsible for it! They must answer the people of #Goa and my #Porvorim,” he said.
